Nagarhole National park is situated on the banks of the river Kabini.
Kabini is the river which flows its way through the Nagarhole national park in Karnataka. It divides Nagarhole and Bandipur wildlife park ( in Tamil Nadu). This river originates in the Wayanad district of Kerala and flows toward the Cauvery to end up in the Bay of Bengal.
Kabini houses various resorts and camps built to encourage wildlife enthusiasts. It is the home to the largest congregation of Asiatic elephants along with the major predators such as the tigers, leopards and wild dogs which exist in huge numbers. Langurs,chital, sambhar, bison, sloth bear, pythons, crocodiles, are some other inhabitants of this forest reserve.
The bird life of this area is unparallel. It is estimated that 250 avian species are also found in this area, some of them being grey-headed fish eagles, ospreys, great cormorants, Malabar pied hornbill, Malabar lark, Malabar trogon, Indian pitta, etc.
Arrive in Kabini from Mysore. ( it is 1.5 hours drive). On arrival check into the resort. After a late lunch, we take you on a boat / jeep safari into the Kakkankote Range, the incredible wilderness found on the back waters of the Nagarhole National Park. Dinner at the camp followed by relaxation around a bonfire. Overnight at the resort.
After an early breakfast, set out on a trek to check out the various species of birds. Later go fishing on the back waters or opt for a coracle ride. Back to the resort for lunch. Evening enjoy the boat or jeep safari ride. Back to the resort for dinner. Overnight at the resort.
After an early morning safari, return to the resort for breakfast. Morning time for leisure. Later opt for a guided tribal tour of the village either by foot or by a bullock car. In the evening, enjoy a jeep safari or a trek along the dividing line of the reserve forest.
You can catch an amazing view of the wildlife while walking or on a boat safari down the river into the reserve forest area. After returning to the camp, enjoy the sunset on the banks of the river.
